  • Thermal radiation

Thermal radiation is electromagnetic energy emitted by matter because of its temperature. It can transfer energy through a vacuum, and net radiative transfer between ordinary bodies is from hotter to cooler. For example, sunlight warming a surface does not need air to carry the energy across space.
