  • Squeeze theorem

The squeeze theorem determines a limit by trapping a function between two others with the same limit. The bounding inequalities must hold sufficiently near the target where the functions are being compared. For example, −x²≤x² sin(1/x)≤x² for x≠0 shows that the middle expression approaches 0 as x approaches 0. A picture suggesting a trap does not replace the required inequality.
