Jump discontinuity
A jump discontinuity occurs when finite left-hand and right-hand limits exist but differ. The graph approaches different heights from the two sides. For example, a function equal to 0 for x<1 and 2 for x≥1 has a jump at 1. Changing its value at 1 does not make the two side limits equal.
